Strengthening Compliance. Protecting People and the Environment.
Handling hazardous chemicals requires more than operational knowledge, it demands structured procedures, regulatory awareness and disciplined execution. A single error in storage, transfer, disposal or spill response can result in serious injuries, environmental contamination, legal penalties and reputational damage.
This comprehensive training programme is designed to equip participants with practical knowledge and regulatory understanding to manage chemicals safely and responsibly within the workplace. The session emphasises prevention, control and proper response strategies to minimise risks associated with hazardous substances and scheduled waste.
Participants are guided through safe chemical handling practices, including proper labelling, storage requirements, compatibility considerations and risk identification. The programme also addresses effective spill response and containment techniques to reduce environmental impact and ensure immediate corrective action during incidents.
A key focus of the training is proper management of scheduled waste, including categories such as SW 408 and SW 409, along with documentation, storage duration limits, labelling requirements and coordination with licensed waste contractors. Regulatory alignment with the Environmental Quality Act 1974 (EQA 1974) and Department of Environment (DOE) requirements is integrated throughout the session to ensure organisations remain compliant and audit-ready.
Emergency response procedures are also covered, ensuring participants understand the steps required to manage chemical incidents calmly, systematically and safely.
